Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong Makes Statement on Israel-Palentine Conflict at The Final Session of The 148th Inter-Parliamentary Union assembly in Geneva, Switzerland

At the final seating of the 148th Assembly of the Inter parliamentary Union in Geneva, the issue of the Israel-Palestine conflict arose again.
Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong re-echoed the position of the Senate President and leader of the Nigerian delegation, HE Godswill Akpabio, for delegates to adopt a statement calling for a ceasefire in the Israel - Palestine conflict.

Reiterating the fact that the majority of the delegates were observedly in support of an end to the violence, and that what was required was for them to view the crisis from the prism of humanity.

Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong noted that the priority for the assembly, as far as the Nigerian delagation is concerned, should be a cessation of hostilities, the release of hostages, and the entry of aid workers into the strip to provide care to the sick and wounded.

Finally, He pointed out that a failure to reach an agreement for peace would mirror the events of the 147th assembly in Angola, He pleaded that individual differences be set aside and the statement crafted by the President and Secretary General be unanimously adopted, paving the way for an end to the conflict that has lasted for close to 6 months.
